French lawmakers urged a social media ban for under-15s and “digital curfew” for older minors Thursday, with massively popular short video platform TikTok the focus of renewed harsh government scrutiny. Speaking on FRANCE 24, Haley Hinkle, Policy Counsel at Fairplay: Childhood Beyond Brands, says that social media executives are ‘purposely turning a blind eye’ to the harm caused to young people on their platforms.
