Wedding bells started ringing when Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced their engagement on Tuesday (Aug. 26).

In a joint post on Instagram, Swift and Kelce shared a series of photos showing the happy couple in a romantic garden, as the Chiefs’ tight end knelt in front of the pop superstar with a ring in his hand. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” they wrote in the photo gallery’s caption.
While comments were turned off on the announcement, that didn’t stop Swifties from celebrating the news across social media. “I AM SO HAPPY FOR MY CLOSE AND PERSONAL FRIEND TAYLOR SWIFT,” one fan wrote over a gif of a little girl screaming. Another pointed out a few of Swift’s accomplishments throughout the last year leading up to her announcement: “Taylor just wrapped up the biggest tour in history last year, got ownership of ALL her music a few months ago, announced a new album two weeks ago and is now engaged,” they wrote. “I feel like a proud mother!”
A number of major brands also weighed in on the news. The Cleveland Guardians jokingly said that because of Swift and Kelce’s announcement, “no one cares that next year’s [Guardians game] schedule is out.” iHeartRadio, meanwhile, echoed the sentiments of Swifites everywhere by demanding a day off. “Taylor and Travis are ENGAGED and you just expect me to WORK????” the media company wrote on X. “The ROYAL WEDDING is in the works and you expect me to CIRCLE BACK ON AN EMAIL?”
Swift and Kelce have been publicly dating since 2023, after the football star famously admitted to having a crush on the pop singer via his podcast New Heights.Most recently, Swift appeared on her now-fiancé’s podcast to announce her 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl, which is due out on Oct. 3.
