Syria’s interim president Ahmed al-Sharaa called for peace on Sunday following widespread communal violence between the country’s Sunni Muslim majority and Alawites accused of supporting the deposed regime of Bashar al-Assad. More than 700 Alawite civilians have been killed since fighting broke out Thursday, a UK-based war monitor said. France24 journalist Shirli Sitbon tells us more.
