Winegrowers from southern France are planning a major protest in Béziers this Saturday. The location matches where the great wine revolt of 1907 began – one of the largest social movements of the 20th century in France, when southern growers protested against competition from cheap imports. With unpredictable weather, rising costs and plummeting sales, the industry is demanding help both from the French government and the European Union in Brussels. Story by Jennie Shin.
