The Bright Side: Vintage crushed ice treat brings relief in a Roman heatwave

In the old days, the grattachecca, made from ice transported to Rome by cart from snow mountains, kept the residents of the Italian capital cool. Ice is more easily available these days, but the traditional cooler, served with a mix of fruit and colourful syrups, continues to refresh Romans as Europe swelters in a heatwave.
