The Chrisleys Are Out Of Prison & Heading Right Back To Reality TV After Trump Pardon: DETAILS On The ‘Evolving’ Show

Todd and Julie Chrisley have been pardoned — and now they’re returning to TV stardom!

After Donald Trump‘s shocking Presidential pardon announcement on Tuesday, Savannah officially picked up her dad Todd on Wednesday night. Julie was also released and on her way back to Nashville to rejoin her family.

It’s perfect timing, really. Just days before Donald chose to give the Chrisleys a get-out-of-jail-free card, People announced the family was returning to the small screen via a new Lifetime docuseries that was originally intended to focus on how the kids and grandmother Faye Chrisley were holding up while the couple was locked up for tax evasion and bank fraud. But now everything has changed!

A source with knowledge of the production told People on Wednesday that it’s unclear exactly what the show will shape up to be now, but you can bet Todd and Julie will be involved (despite not initially planning to be). In a telling comment, the source revealed:

“The show is still filming and will continue to, though the family’s situation is evolving rapidly.”

Oh, this is gonna be just like Gypsy Rose Blanchard‘s Lifetime doc then? Cameras caught her release from prison and the early days of her adjusting back to the real world. We bet we’ll be seeing lots of that from the Chrisleys — along with a big dose of MAGA praise. They can’t stop sucking up to Trump now, y’know?

The source detailed what else to expect:

“No one knew this pardon would happen and the goal is to cover their lives in real time, but things have significantly changed for them all and everyone in the family, as well as producers, are trying to figure it out and tell their authentic story.”

One thing is for sure: this won’t be a redo of their previous show, Chrisley Knows Best, which “was very comical.” The new untitled show will “be different as they’re all in a much different place now.” The insider pointed out:

“But the producers are used to this. It’s similar to Wendy Williams. When filming began on her doc, they thought they were going to do one kind of show and then everything changed.”

At least this is a good change for the producers. If they can capture Todd and Julie reentering society, think of how many people will likely tune in! But how much have the plans really changed? Does this screw up the whole concept of the show?? The initial description for the series read:

“The Chrisleys don’t know best anymore, but they’re doing their best to be there for each other. The family faces the challenge of carrying on the Chrisley name and legacy on their own with only phone calls and brief visits with their incarcerated parents.”

That, of course, is the major change now that their parents will be home with them! The synopsis continued:

“While Savannah maintains custody of her younger siblings, Chloe and Grayson, she has been fighting tirelessly for a Presidential pardon to free her parents. Meanwhile, Chase is addressing some life struggles while building his new business and navigating his relationship with girlfriend Jodi.”

The family was ready to use their time back on screen to expose “the raw truth of their lives — past and present — and the reality is far different from what audiences have seen before.” While their fight to get their parents out of jail might be over, we doubt the tone of the show will be impacted much. They can still detail how they accomplished this and unpack all the trauma they’ve experienced the past few years — viewers will just know the family got their happy ending already.
