The Cure have been announced as the first headliners for the 2026 edition of Open’er Festival in Poland.

Next year’s instalment of the festival will return to Gdynia, and be held between Wednesday July 1 and Saturday July 4.

Today (Wednesday October 1), it has been confirmed that the British alt-rock icons are the first added to the line-up, and set to perform on the Orange Main Stage on Friday July 3.

The slot at Open’er comes following The Cure announcing a handful of European festival dates for next summer, as well as some headline shows in the UK around the same time. At the Poland slot, they are suspected to break out a number of classic favourites, as well as songs from their latest album ‘Songs Of A Lost World’.

More details about the line-up for Open’er will be shared at a later date, and early bird tickets go on sale on October 8. Visit here for tickets and more information.

Earlier this morning it was shared that Robert Smith and co. will be closing out the first day of the Øya Festival too, marking their only Norwegian show of the year and first time back at Øya in seven years.

Before then, they were confirmed for Rock En Seine, Primavera Sound, and Isle Of Wight Festival.

While the band shared their latest album last year, it looks likely that they will have another record coming out in time for the 2026 live performances too.

Around the time ‘Songs Of A Lost World’ being released, Smith said that the band had another LP that’s “virtually finished”, as well as a third new record in the works. The ‘Friday I’m In Love’ singer then added that he was reluctant to book any tour dates until at least one of those was fully done.

The new festival dates will be the first from The Cure in seven years, and the new shows will mark their first time on stage together since their show at London’s Troxy last November.

That gig was a more intimate affair, and saw Green Day‘s Billie Joe Armstrong, Radiohead‘s Ed O’Brien, Boy George, Mogwai‘s Stuart Braithwaite, and Pedro Pascal in the 3,000-strong crowd.

As for Open’er, the 2025 edition saw a huge performance from Massive Attack, who kicked off the event by showing solidarity with the people of Palestine and rolling out huge fan favourites.

Also at the event, Doechii delivered a mammoth set that NME described as “turning the main stage into a swampy wonderland”, Linkin Park returned to the country for their first set since 2017, and others commanding the stages included Camila Cabello, Conan Gray, Molchat Doma, Wolf Alice, and Samara Cyn.
