European Union leaders at a summit in Brussels on Thursday approved a statement in support of Ukraine without the backing of Hungary, an EU official said. Sven Biscop, Director of the ‘Europe in the World’ Programme at the Egmont Royal Institute for International Relations in Brussels, says that the statement is a sign that the EU recognizes that ‘things have become too important for silly political games and if Orban wants to play them, he’s pushed aside’.
