Thiago Avila spent four days in Israeli custody, two of them in solitary, after he and 11 others tried to bring humanitarian aid into Gaza by sea. Their vessel was intercepted leading to what he describes as a gruelling stay marked by inhumane treatment and a brief hunger strike.
