The Trump administration has announced further cuts to the US agency for foreign aid, sounding the death knell for an organization that has fought hunger and poverty around the world for more than 60 years. Before Trump came to power, the agency employed around 10,000 people; that number is now set to decrease to just 15 positions. The announcement has prompted alarm among humanitarian aid experts, some of whom fear a renewed AIDS epidemic. Despite the cuts, Trump has vowed that the U.S. will provide assistance to Myanmar following a deadly earthquake. Charlotte Hughes has this story.
