Earlier this week, the Puerto Rican rapper made headlines when he was announced as the headliner for next year’s Super Bowl in February. The announcement came after Bad Bunny admitted that he won’t be touring the US during his forthcoming world tour due to fears over ICE agents raiding his concerts.
Announcing his Super Bowl slot, the rapper wrote on social media: “I’ve been thinking about it these days, and after discussing it with my team, I think I’ll do just one date in the United States.”
estuve pensando en estos días, y luego de hablarlo con mi equipo, creo que haré una sola fecha en Estados Unidos.

Now, Corey Lewandowski – who served as President Donald Trump’s 2016 and 2024 campaign manager and now advises the Department of Homeland Security – has said during a recent appearance on Benny Johnson’s The Benny Show that ICE will be present at the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
Lewandowski said: “There is nowhere you can provide safe haven to people who are in this country illegally. Not the Super Bowl and nowhere else. We will find you and apprehend you and put you in a detention facility and deport you. Know that is a very real situation under this administration, which is contrary to how it used to be.”
“It’s so shameful that they’ve decided to pick somebody who just seems to hate America so much to represent them at the Halftime game.”
CONFIRMED: ICE will be active and on-site at Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance.

Immigration raids through ICE since convicted felon Donald Trump became president for the second time have soared in the US with the agency aiming for 3,000 minimum arrests a day since May. Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance and prior declaration that the tour would not make its way to the United States also comes after the rapper said he previously witnessed an ICE raid in Puerto Rico in June.
According to a video posted onto his Instagram Story at the time, it appeared to show a number of ICE agents in unmarked vehicles detaining people on the streets of Avenida Pontezuela, Carolina in Puerto Rico.

The Puerto Rican rapper-singer most recently concluded his historic Puerto Rico residency on September 20. The rapper’s ‘No Me Quiero Ir De Aquí’ residency kicked off on July 11 and was scheduled to end on September 14, but was later extended for one final show on September 20. The first nine dates of the residency were reserved exclusively for Puerto Rico residents, as was the final gig.
The final gig was live-streamed to fans across the globe on Amazon Music and Twitch channels worldwide, and was also be available to replay on the platform for 24 hours. The night saw the Puerto Rican artist bring out a host of special guests to see off the residency, including RaiNao, Dei V, Ñengo Flow, Arcángel, De La Ghetto, Jowell & Randy and salsa legend Marc Anthony. The latter teamed up with Bad Bunny for a heartfelt take on ‘Preciosa’.
Acts who were considered front-runners for the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show included Taylor Swift – who recently announced her engagement to Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce and has an open-invite to perform, per the NFL Commissioner – and hometown heroes Metallica, who have openly discussed their eagerness to perform.
