Two new governors bring hope for US moderate left ahead of midterms

Zohran Mamdani’s win in New York City wasn’t the only victory for Democrats this early November. Left-wing women candidates also won in key governor races in Virginia and New Jersey, giving cause for optimism for the Democrats ahead of next year’s midterm elections. The winners, a former Navy helicopter pilot and a former CIA officer, won by focusing their campaign on economic arguments.
