U.S. labour market weakens with little job growth and rising unemployment

The U.S. economy added 22,000 new jobs in August while the unemployment rate rose to 4.3 per cent. Job growth has stalled, with economists blaming U.S. President Donald Trump’s sweeping import tariffs and an immigration crackdown that has reduced the labour pool.
