UK unveils sweeping asylum crackdown as government slashes refugee protections

Britain are set to drastically reduce protections for refugees and end automatic benefits for asylum seekers, the Labour government announced late Saturday, November 15, under new plans aimed at slashing irregular immigration and countering the hard right. The measures were announced as Prime Minister Keir Starmer comes under pressure from surging popularity for the anti-immigrant Reform UK party. The Director of Global Programs at Migration Policy Institute in Toulouse, Meghan Benton, and France24 correspondent from Brussels Dave Keating join live for more on the issue.
