Walton Goggins’ The Ghoul joins ‘Fallout 76’ in massive ‘Burning Springs’ update

A huge new update for Fallout 76 will introduce Walton Goggins’ The Ghoul to the hit game for the very first time.

Burning Springs is the largest update to Fallout 76 in five years and will introduce players “to an arid and charred region of post-nuclear Ohio, complete with new factions, challenges, unique weapons and gear, and even new fish to catch.”

According to a press release, the update will feature new characters including intelligent super mutant The Rust King and new pets such as the Rad Hog. “This update features something for every type of player, from new mechanics for seasoned survivors, easier entry points for fresh-faced newcomers and exciting events for all,” said developers.

Fallout 76: Burning Springs will also let players take on “all-new Bounty Hunting missions” hosted by Walton Goggins as The Ghoul. The Ghoul isn’t available as a playable character or a companion but if you do enough missions for him, you can earn yourself a version of his gun, as seen on the Amazon Prime Video adaptation.

Fallout 76: Burning Springs will go live in December but a public test will begin later today (October 2).

Ghouls are severely mutated humans who have appeared in every Fallout game but the Amazon Prime Video series changed things up, with Goggins playing bad-ass bounty hunter and former Hollywood star Cooper Howard aka The Ghoul.

The second season of Fallout is set to premiere December 17 and will see The Ghoul, Lucy (Ella Purnell) and Maximus (Aaron Moten) heading to New Vegas following the events of season one. “Now that people understand what the world is, this story just takes it to a whole ‘nother level,” Goggins teased earlier this year. “I’ve been around a long time, and usually a show that people are attracted to, with that licence, the second season really starts cooking, right? That’s when some real magic can happen.”

Showrunner Graham Wagner has confirmed fan-favourite video game character Mr. House will play a big role in the new Fallout episodes, while Macaulay Culkin will play “a crazy genius-type character.”

In other news, Spiritbox’s Courtney LaPlante will release new song ‘Ties That Bind’ next week as the official anthem for new League Of Legends spin-off fighting game 2KXO.
