Watch Cynthia Erivo Be Moved to Tears by Kids at Her Old School Singing ‘For Good’ During Surprise Visit

Cynthia Erivo and a group of children at her old school will be changed for good after an emotional surprise visit from the Wicked star.

In a heartwarming video shared by BBC Radio 1 on Tuesday (Nov. 18), Erivo walks into a room of shocked squeals and delighted tears from unsuspecting choir students practicing “For Good,” abruptly coming to a halt when they see her enter. As the chaos breaks out, the Tony winner begins to tear up — but that’s nothing compared to the way she cries while watching the kids perform “For Good” just for her.

The students were then given the opportunity to ask Erivo questions. When one asked her to name the most rewarding moment in her career so far, the performer gave a poignant answer. “This,” she said simply.

The video then ends with Erivo singing “For Good” with the students, after which they ask her to do her iconic “Defying Gravity” battle cry, which she happily obliges.

The sweet moment comes just days away from Wicked: For Good‘s premiere on Friday (Nov. 21). It’ll mark the close of an epic musical duology that first kicked off in November 2024, when the first Wicked hit theaters and immediately shattered box-office records.

The first film also earned Oscars for best costume design and best production design, while Erivo was recognized with a nomination in the best actress category. If she’s nominated again for For Good, she’ll have earned the coveted “EGOT” status with an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony to her name
