Doja Cat made her debut on Saturday Night Live and performed two tracks from her latest album ‘Vie’ – check out footage below.
After an introduction from host Bad Bunny at last night’s (October 4) season premiere, the rapper-songwriter opened with the Jack Antonoff-produced ‘Aaahh Men!’, which saw her once again lean in to the ’80s visuals that have defined her latest record for a theatrical performance.
The second single taken from ‘Vie’ was ‘Gorgeous’, the sax-heavy ode to beauty for which she shared the video last week. When performing it on SNL on Saturday, she sang from atop a giant red rose.
‘Vie’ dropped last Friday and scored a four-star review from NME, who praised it as “an intimate, sensual ride threaded with zappy synths and funk bass.”
“‘Vie’ proves that Doja Cat remains pop’s ultimate shapeshifter, offering an album that moves, seduces and entertains on its own terms,” our review read.
“Now using nostalgic power-pop as her vehicle, Doja’s voice – morphing, scratching, fluttering and crooning – drives it with full throttle, keeping every track alive. It’s intimate, playful, and downright fun, and once it gets its tenterhooks into you, it won’t let go.”
The ‘Say So’ artist began teasing this new era back in April, and hosted a surprise album-listening preview party for fans in August. Although the music has been well received, she has hit back at the “harsh criticism” from some regarding the album artwork, which shows her suspended from a yellow parachute, stuck in the branches of a tree.
Doja teamed up with producer and Bleachers frontman Antonoff for the album and, ahead of its release, shared that it would be more “pop-driven” than her previous record, ‘Scarlet‘. This sound, she explained, was something that Antonoff was crucial in shaping.
In celebration of the record, she recently announced the huge ‘Tour Ma Vie’ 2026 world tour of UK, Europe, North America and Latin America. You can check out a full list of dates here, and visit here for UK tickets, and here for international tickets.
