A young woman was found brutally murdered in what was supposed to be paradise…
According to The US Sun, Paige Bell, a 20-year-old from South Africa, was working as a stewardess on a superyacht named Far From It. The vessel was docked off the coast of Harbour Island, a popular destination for the ultrarich in the Bahamas known as the “Billionaires’ Backyard.” More than 20 billionaires reportedly live on the island, and many celebrities vacation there, including Mick Jagger, Prince Harry, Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford, Tom Hanks, and the Kardashians. But sadly, a tragedy rocked the area last week. Per local outlet Our News, Bell was stabbed to death on board the yacht on July 3.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force wrote in a statement posted to Facebook that she was missing for a “short period” of time that day. The Sun reported that crew members could not get hold of her on the phone, nor was there any sign of her on the yacht that day, so they started to search for her. But when one staffer went down to the engine room, they discovered a grisly scene. They found Bell’s body, and she was not alone. The Sun reported police said a co-worker was lying near her covered in blood, with a knife in his hand and both wrists slashed.
OMG…
Following the horrific discovery, the Royal Bahamas Police Force stated that law enforcement was notified about the incident shortly after 1:00 p.m. When police boarded the yacht, they found the woman “unresponsive with visible signs of injuries,” and the male suspect — identified by Our News as 39-year-old Mexican national Brigido Muñoz — nearby “suffering from severe injuries to his arms.” They believe he attempted suicide.
Police stated he was “apprehended, cautioned, and taken to a nearby clinic for medical treatment.” He was arraigned and charged with murder on Wednesday in the Magistrate Court. Muñoz was also denied bail and will return to court on November 20, Our News reported.
As for Bell, a local doctor boarded the ship and pronounced the poor girl dead on the scene. The family issued a statement after the horrible news, saying:
“Our family is facing an unimaginable journey. This evening mom and dad are flying to the Bahamas to begin the painful process of not only bringing their baby girl home but also seeking justice for the monster that took her life. We are devastated beyond words and now we must also navigate complex and costly legal proceedings in a foreign country – something far beyond our financial means.”
The family is asking for “support” financially as they deal with the case. The statement continued:
“This heart-breaking loss has been deeply felt by everyone who knew and loved ‘Paigey’ – her former captain, the boat owner, all the crew on board and our entire community. We are humbly asking for your support whether by sharing this message or contributing financially, every bit helps. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers. We are grateful for your love, support, and solidarity during this incredibly difficult time.”
A GoFundMe was created to help ease the burden for Bell’s loved ones by her former crewmates from Motor Yacht Sweet Emocean. And what makes all of this more devastating is that her co-workers revealed she “would have celebrated her 21st birthday on July 14th.” Heartbreaking. They added in the caption:
“In honor of Paige, her mother has asked that we all eat red velvet cake (her favorite) on that day and share a photo in remembrance of the beautiful soul she was. Paige was more than a teammate, she was family. Her radiant spirit, infectious laughter, and boundless compassion made an unforgettable impact on everyone lucky enough to know her. Whether it was long days at sea or quiet moments under the stars, she brought light and warmth wherever she went.”
Paige sounds like an amazing person taken from the world far too soon… and in such an awful, awful way. Our hearts go out to her family. We can’t imagine what they must be going through right now…
