It’s been nearly a year and a half now since the YouTube star, who used to run the Ace Family channel with ex-husband Austin, announced they were getting a divorce. The announcement shocked dedicated fans. On the surface, the pair seemed to be the perfect couple. But we all know looks can be deceiving, especially on the internet…
So what happened between them though? For a while now, rumors of infidelity have circled Austin. And Catherine confirmed them earlier this month in a snippet from her upcoming memoir DOLORES: My Journey Home: (Finding Myself Beyond The ACE Family). While the book is still yet to be released, Austin made it all too clear what’s in it — by trying to jump out in front of the news! He took to Snapchat shortly after the book announcement to address the cheating allegations — which he did not deny. Instead, he claimed Catherine was aware of his behavior for years but chose to stay with him regardless. Um… that sounds to us like a confirmation he’s a serial cheater. Right?

In any case, even that weak defense was a spin, according to Catherine!
On Wednesday, she appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast where she opened up to host Alex Cooper about the pain she suffered after finding out about Austin’s extramarital activities — which she absolutely had not been fine with. Speaking of the number of women the 33-year-old cheated with, she revealed:
“I know three for sure. They’re out there in the world acting like that never happened, probably.”
Oof.
She then talked about the crisis mode Austin seemingly went into after finding out about her memoir, telling the host:
“I think when he saw the first chapter of my book he thought that maybe I wrote a lot more about him — but I kind of didn’t … It’s a memoir about my life.”
But Austin chose to respond with his lengthy Snapchat video in which he claimed Catherine knew all about the cheating. That she had to respond to:
“One thing he said that really just was a punch to the gut was, ‘Yes, I cheated and she was OK with it as long as I said you don’t embarrass me.’ That is not true. I never ever said that. I would never say that.”
She continued:
“I would never want my kids to think that it’s OK to cheat on your husband or your wife. I will make sure to raise them so that they know that they should never ever do that because that is so wrong.”
Through tears, the 34-year-old emotionally added:
“You never cheat on the person you love. I would never in a million years say that.”
So heartbreaking.
Elsewhere, Catherine revealed she learned of Austin’s infidelity while their daughter Alaia was getting her first haircut. Her phone died during the milestone, so she grabbed Austin’s to capture it for their ACE Family YouTube vlog:
“I had never looked in his phone ever. As soon as I grabbed the phone, like out of a movie, this long text comes through like ‘If you really love your wife, you wouldn’t be…’ In that moment, my heart drops. I’m pregnant. There are people watching us. The camera’s on. It felt surreal.”
What a difficult moment… The pair also share Elle, 8, and Steel, 4, whom she was pregnant with at the time. She recalled:
“He grabs the phone from me and instantly deletes the message. I thought, ‘Oh my gosh, it’s true.’”
How traumatizing.
She explained she confronted him in the car on the way home while attempting to keep her cool in front of their children:
“I saw enough to know instantly that this is an emotional relationship he’s having with somebody. This is a woman that is having a relationship with my husband.”
And when they got home, she said she “blacked out … yelling, screaming,” and begging for answers. When he didn’t give her anything, she took off in her car and turned to God for answers — and she apparently heard a voice telling her to not make any “impulsive decisions.” So, after a couple days, Austin FINALLY came clean and Catherine believed she could find it in herself to forgive him because he was “crying out.”
Ah. She she tried to forgive him. And that’s what he’s painting as her giving permission? Ugh.
Ultimately, though, it didn’t work. The pair ended their marriage. And in retrospect, she feels his admissions “never felt apologetic.” But earlier this month when he finally owned up to everything publicly ahead of the release of her memoir, she did feel better:
“Even through our divorce, even through everything, I never heard him say the words ‘I cheated. When I heard the words, I was like, ‘Oh my god, finally. I heard that. Thank you so much. That was all I was waiting for.’ Finally hearing those words was so healing for me because it’s like I wasn’t going crazy.”
